Season 3, Episode 3 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I start off the show by looking at Joey Porter, Aaron Smith, Marvel Smith and Willie Parker as all four will be present at the “Friday Night Lights” practice tonight to announce their retirements. we attempt to rank all four and invite your feedback as well.
We move on to talk about the Steelers installation of the no-huddle and two-minute offense this week and David fills us in on what he observed Thursday at practice. This includes the blocking drills as well as the two minute period. Does anyone want to win the fifth wide receiver spot? So far there really isn\’t a leading candidate and David tells me what he has observed so far in that battle. We also discuss how none of the draft picks are really sticking out thus far outside of running back Chris Rainey. Of course the true test still lies ahead in the form of four preseason games, so it is way too early to draw any conclusions this early on in camp.
David had a great interview this week with linebackers coach Keith Butler, so we go through all of the information that Butler provided on Chris Carter, James Harrison and Jason Worilds specifically. David is coming around to the reality that safety Will Allen will make the 53 man roster, so we discuss that as well as the Friday roster move that saw the Steelers waive/injured cornerback Terry Carter only to sign his former Louisiana Tech teammate Josh Victorian. Hopefully Carter can get healthy and make it back to the practice squad at some point.
We touch briefly on the Ben Roethlisberger news concerning his rotator cuff that certainly saw its run through through the news cycle and both agree that this was much to do about nothing. We close the show by letting you know where you can find David on the radio dial this upcoming week and hope you are tuning him in.
