Season 2, Episode 106 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I start off the show by answering a question we received from a listener about the the history of the podcast and how both of us came about getting together to do it.
After the intro we get right into talking about the Steelers rookie camp that took place this past weekend and what useful information that came out of it. We talk a little more about second round pick Mike Adams and where he ultimately fits down the line. During this assessment we take into account some recent quotes that Tunch Ilkin apparently has made in regard to Adams. After some rookie talk David and I discuss the report made by Jason La Canfora Monday night that stated the Steelers had a trade in place with the New York Jets to move up to the 16th spot in round one to draft David DeCastro. That trade fell through reportedly when the Seattle Seahawks drafted Bruce Irvin at 15. David and I wonder how it might have changed the complexion of the Steelers entire draft had they ended up making that trade.
We move on to discuss quarterback Ben Roethlisberger finishing up his degree at Miami of Ohio and graduating this past week. This is a good thing on so many levels and we give the Steelers quarterback some kudos for getting that behind him. Who move on to talk about Ryan Clark, Keenan Lewis and Weslye Saunders getting kicked out of the Steelers facility this past weekend because the CBA says they are not allowed to workout on the weekend at the team facility. We try to look at both sides of argument here.
How long will the summer vacation for Mike Wallace last and will Troy Polamalu be present for the Steelers next session that starts two weeks from today? We discuss that it is not a big deal if many of the long time veterans, especially on the defensive side of the ball are present for that.
The Baltimore Ravens signed former Steelers draft pick Ryan McBean recently along with Maake Kemoeatu, the brother of former Steelers guard Chris Kemoeatu, and we discuss the situations with each. This discussion somehow leads to us discussing the AFC West teams and ultimately the New England Patriots. We talk about the glut of wide receivers that the Patriots have signed this offseason and how head coach Bill Belichick builds his teams much differently than the Steelers traditionally do. We all hate the Patriots and Belichick, but we tip our cap to them always being competitive.
We close by talking briefly about my initial stab at the Steelers 53 man roster and we will be talking more about upcoming roster battles in future episodes.
