Season 2, Episode 110 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I are excited that day one of the OTA sessions for the Pittsburgh Steelers is finally here. We talk first about the rule that is prohibiting first, second and fourth round draft picks, David DeCastro, Mike Adams and Alameda Ta\’amu from attending.
We talk again about the absence of Mike Wallace and how Troy Polamalu should be present, which he ended up being, and we discuss the comments made by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Monday about Wallace, his relationship with Todd Haley and the new playbook.
Max Starks has yet to hear from the Steelers about returning in 2012 and we touch on that briefly. We also talk about the great season that Curtis Brown had last year on special teams and how he stacked up on the Football Outsiders rankings despite missing four games. We also touch on the comments made by former Steelers linebacker Greg Lloyd this past week as he voiced his displeasure with the current state of the NFL. This is not the first time Lloyd has done this and we relive some of his past comments.
We move on to acknowledge the sudden death on Monday of former West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart and how he was the one that gave Mike Tomlin his first college coaching job at VMI. We also talk about the trade of Kellen Winslow to the Seattle Seahawks Monday night and how the Steelers were just not a reasonable landing spot for him.
In the last part of the podcast I welcome back Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and he gets us all up-to-date with what he observed on Tuesday at the Steelers first OTA session. Mark provides us with quite a few nuggets and he has more coming via his Twitter account and you can follow him at @MarkKaboly_Trib. We thank Mark for taking time out to talk to us and we hope to have him on again Friday to wrap up the entire OTA.
