Season 2, Episode 93 of The Terrible Podcast is up and with David Todd start off by talking about the new look Steelers Nike uniforms that were unveiled on Tuesday in New York and give our thoughts on them. Will the 2012 NFL schedule be released later this week? David has heard that rumor and we talk about what prime time, national television games the Steelers might get.
We move on to talk about the report on Tuesday that the Indianapolis Colts might have interest in signing unrestricted free agent quarterback Byron Leftwich. Will the Steelers have a big hole to fill if Leftwich winds up elsewhere? We discuss that as well as the visit that wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery reportedly has scheduled with the St. Louis Rams this week.
Back into draft prospect talk we go as we talk about the sudden drop in stock of defensive tackle Dontari Poe by Mike Mayock. I take the opportunity to pat myself on the back as Mayock echoes pretty much my same thoughts I gave on Poe during the podcast last week. We move on to talk about the other nose tackle prospects the Steelers might have their sights set on in the form of Josh Chapman, Alameda Ta\’amu and Mike Martin.
We move on to talk about the running back draft prospects after Isaiah Pead made his pre draft visit on Tuesday. I give my thoughts on Pead and what type of back the Steelers likely think he is. We also discuss Doug Martin, Robert Turbin and LaMichael James as they all relate to the Steelers. That talk turns to the Steelers 53 man roster and what drafting a back like Pead would mean to the other younger backs currently on the roster. David still is not ready to rule out Rashard Mendenhall being ready by week one and we talk running back numbers both with and without him on the 53.
We discuss the breaking news that free agent linebacker David Hawthorne has signed with the New Orleans Saints. I had thrown out the name of Hawthorne as a potential free agent the Steelers should consider signing last week.
We close up the episode with a quick discussion about Plaxico Burress.
