Immediately after it was announced that the Pittsburgh Steelers had signed unrestricted free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery to a two year deal I speculated on Twitter that I would be surprsiede if the contract totaled out over $3 million. Ed Bouchette tweets tonight that the deal does indeed total out at $3 million.
Will be surprised if Cotchery two-year deal totals out over $3 million. Signing bonus will be key number. 1 million maybe at tops. #steelers

While we do not know the exact break down yet of the deal, I can speculate that the 2012 base salary for Cotchery is $825,000 with the second year base salary being $940,000. That in itself totals out to be $1.765 million. The signing bonus likely was around $1 million, so there might be a roster bonus included in the second year of the deal. Basing everything on speculation of the breakdown above, that would make the 2012 salary cap charge on Cotchery roughly around $1.325 million.
As soon as I get the full breakdown from the NFLPA I will pass along the numbers.
