Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News reports Friday on Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery will visit the St. Louis Rams on either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Cotchery has a link to the Rams as their new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was the New York Jets offensive coordinator during the time that Cotchery played in New York.
Cotchery reportedly has made at least one other free agent visit to the Kansas City Chiefs since the free agency signing period began and the Jets reportedly had some initial interest in him returning to New York as well, but that interest has now seemed to have waned. Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert has mentioned several times this offseason that they hoped to bring Cotchery back in 2012.
Cotchery was signed by the Steelers adfter the start of training camp last year and caught 16 passes for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns during the regular season. Cotchery was hampered by a hamstring injury early on the season, but ended up playing just over 300 snaps on offense once he recovered fully. The Steelers would likely want him as a their 4th wide receiver in 2012.
