Season 2, Episode 79 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I get started with the recent news of the contract restructure of Willie Colon that was announced this morning and try to give everyone an update as to how much more the Pittsburgh Steelers need to trim off of their cap to get compliant. We look at the projected Rule of 51 number that includes the projected restricted tenders that are forthcoming as well. We discuss the usual suspects that could still retire, take a pay-cut or have their contracts terminated over the course of the next few weeks to give you a picture of what is left to be done. Hopefully you like numbers, because we talk about a bunch of them.
Next up we take a reader email that pops in while we are recording in regards to how contracts are structured and how signing bonuses are prorated out in contracts. We also discuss how dead money is derived as well. We then discuss the situation with Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders after the 2012 season and how it is not as big of deal as must are trying to make it out to be right now. This coincides with my Tuesday post on the subject. David throws out and interesting hypothetical question where we have to choose between Brown or Mike Wallace. Let\’s hope it remains hypothetical, but we both give our answers just the same. David adds to that a question of who has the higher ceiling of the two moving forward.
We wrap things up in this episode with a mini NFL combine preview and go over a few of the marquee players that I will be focusing in on mostly over the course of the upcoming week. We also give several shout-outs to some listeners on Twitter and hope we have answered most of your questions over the course of the last few episodes.
