The Steelers placed nose tackle Chris Hoke and running back Jonathan Dwyer on injured reserve today and promoted linebacker Mortty Ivy and safety Damon Cromartie-Smith from the practice squad to take their places on the 53 man roster.
Hoke will undergo neck surgery next week after never recovering from his latest stinger suffered against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Dwyer suffered a foot injury of some kind against the Cincinnati Bengals last week.
Ivy has been on and off the Steelers practice squad and active roster this season while Cromartie-Smith spent the entire 2010 season on the Steelers practice squad and most of this year.
The Steelers play the Cleveland Browns tonight at Heinz Field and both Ivy and Cromartie-Smith could be active tonight. The Steelers will fill the two vacancies on the practice squad next week.
