Below are the offensive personnel packages, play counts and participation chart for the Steelers week 7 win against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. What sticks out this week is how many times the 13 personnel package was used with 3 tight ends. That was used an amazing 24 times. The Steelers also used Trai Essex once as a tight end and that is the first time this year we have seen a 4 tight end package and formation so to speak. 35 plays featured two tight ends or more on the field out of 69. We also saw 5 receiver packages 5 times this past Sunday.
Emmanuel Sanders received the extra snaps when Hines Ward left with his ankle injury. That is not surprising as he is the better blocker than Antonio Brown. Jerricho Cotchery saw a season high 13 snaps. I believe this was the first game this year that all 5 starting linemen played all the snaps in a game.
