Steelers 2011 Training Camp – Day Eleven Recap

2011 Steelers Training CampNot much to talk about on day 11 of Steelers training camp as the players had off on Sunday and will resume practice tomorrow.

Late last night an article surfaced about the short free agency period that Willie Colon went through and how his agent thought he might be a fit for the Bears even though they wanted him to move to guard.

Remember Doug Worthington? He was the Steelers 7th round draft pick in 2010 and he was signed by the Redskins today after a brief stay with the Buccaneers.

Former Steelers special teams captain and reserve linebacker Keyaron Fox signed with the Redskins as well yesterday. Fox was an unrestricted free agent and the Steelers had no intentions of bringing him back this year.

Jason Cole wonders if the Steelers feelings towards commissioner Roger Goodell will be used as motivation this year.

It looks as if second-round draft pick Marcus Gilbert may return to practice on Monday after sitting out a week with a hamstring injury. Gilbert desperately needs to get back to work and the Steelers could probably use his body out there after Jonathan Scott and Ramon Foster were both dinged up on Saturday. Foster says he had a mild concussion and thinks he could be back early this week as well.

Jerricho Cotchery visited with the Steelers today and it could indeed be a sign that they truly have some concerns about the feet of Emmanuel Sanders going forward combined with their possible reluctance to let Antonio Brown take over the number three spot if Sanders is not ready by week 1.

Dan Gigler has some video up of Hines Ward riding atop the new “Tumbler” Batmobile during a break at yesterday\’s Dark Knight Rises shoot at Heinz Field.

Dale Lolley wrote about how the veterans are lending a hand in teaching the rookies thus far in camp.

Ron Cook gave his thought this morning on if the Steelers should turn their attention to Troy Polamalu or Lawrence Timmons now that LaMarr Woodley is all taken care of.

Gerry Dulac reported via Twitter tonight that the Steelers could still be interested in adding another veteran tight end and named former Bengal Reggie Kelly as a possible target. Dulac also tweeted that Chris Scott could be in the running for the starting right guard spot.

Make sure to check back Monday evening for a complete recap of day twelve of Steelers training camp.
