The Steelers got their first on field practice work done on Wednesday in preparation for Super Bowl XLV against the Green Bay Packers. They practiced at Texas Christian University indoors and only listed two players on the Wednesday injury report. C Maurkice Pouncey (ankle) remains sidelined and had his ankle out of the boot on Wednesday afternoon. Pouncey says he has to work on Friday in order to be able to play Sunday and will wear the walking boot in the evening. DE Aaron Smith (triceps) remains limited and was supposed to have another MRI after practice to determine where he is at. Thursday and Friday will be key days for him to prove he is ready to play or not. S Will Allen (knee) was not listed on the Wednesday injury report and looks to return after missing the the AFC Championship Game against the Jets. Also not listed on Wednesday were CB Bryant McFadden (abdomen), S Troy Polamalu (Achilles), WR Emmanuel Sanders (foot) and T Jonathan Scott (ribs). All four players were on the Super Bowl bye week injury report, but have since been removed and appear to be back practicing fully.
For the Packers on Wednesday, T Chad Clifton (knees) OL Jason Spitz (calf), LB Erik Walden (ankle) and LB Frank Zombo (knee) were all limited in practice, but all four player are expected to be available for the game on Sunday.
