The Steelers started their on field work on Wednesday in preparation to play the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV down in Dallas a week from this coming Sunday. Sitting out on Wednesday were C Maurkice Pouncey (ankle), S Will Allen (knee), S Troy Polamalu (Achilles), CB Bryant McFadden (abdomen), WR Emmanuel Sanders (foot) and T Jonathan Scott (ribs). DE Aaron Smith (triceps) was limited. It is looking like Pouncey will not recover in time to play in the Super Bowl according to teammates and currently has his left ankle in a hard cast and is still using crutches. The jury is still out on Smith making his long awaited appearance as well. Smith has yet to participate fully in a practice since return to the practice field several weeks ago. Allen, Polamalu, McFadden, Sanders and Scott will be good to go by Super Bowl Sunday.
The Packers did not practice on Wednesday so the practice report is an estimation provided by coaches. LB Erik Walden (ankle) and LB Frank Zombo (knee) would of sat out. LB Desmond Bishop (ankle), T Chad Clifton (neck), LB A.J. Hawk (knee), WR Greg Jennings (knee) and C Jason Spitz (calf) would be limited. The Packers will resume on field work on Thursday.
