The Steelers allowed 2 sacks Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens and we have the breakdowns of both of them below in animated gif form. If you click on either of the images, you can see the full size replay on NFL.com.
In the first sack on just the third offensive play of the game, the Ravens show blitz , but only rush 3. Haloti Ngata eventually gets the sack after 7 seconds and it was plenty of time for Charlie Batch to get rid of the bal despite having to move around in the pocket. If you were going to charge anyone on the line with it, it would have to be rookie center Maurkice Pouncey, but I think you will agree this is a coverage sack or Batch did not want to force the ball into coverage. Terrell Suggs has no chance against Flozell Adams on the far side.
On the second sack Haloti Ngata and Terrell Suggs stunt with Ray Lewis coming on a blitz with the Ravens rushing 6. Suggs slightly delays off the snap as Ngata takes center Maurkice Pouncey and guard Doug Legursky to their right and Pouncey can not get back to the middle as Suggs slips inside down the lane next to Lewis. It should be noted that running back Isaac Redman does a good job picking up Lewis. Pouncey will learn from this next time as it was a great stunt blitz.
