Steelers Six From Around The Web – Tuesday August 31st – Ben To Bring In QB Coach During Suspension Edition

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not be permitted to have contact with the Steelers once the season starts, but has said he plans to bring in his own with private quarterbacks coach, Steve Clarkson, from California to work with during his suspension.

The pregame notes for the Steelers final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers has been released and you can read it right here. The game is Thursday night at Heinz Field.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that inside linebacker James Farrior and cornerback Bryant McFadden, could miss Thursday\’s preseason finale against Carolina with injuries. Farrior is likely doubtful after receiving six stitches to close a gash in his forehead that occurred in the first quarter against Denver. McFadden will likely sit again with a pectoral injury he suffered against the Giants. Larry Foote would likely start in place of Farrior and Keenan Lewis might get a second start if he can get out of Tomlin\’s dog house by then.

Lloyd\’s of London has insured the hair of Troy Polamalu for $1 million dollars. The policy of course was purchased by Head and Shoulders and did not reveal what must be done to Polamalu\’s hair for anyone to collect on the policy. Polamalu has done several commercials for the shampoo giant over the years featuring his long, flowing black hair.

Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times has taken his stab at the 53 man roster and thinks it is too late for Jonathan Dwyer to make the cut and also thinks Patrick Bailey sticks on special teams and Matt Stewart takes over for Greg Warren now at long snapper. The Lions signed linebacker Rocky Boiman on Monday as depth at middle linebacker. Boiman ended the 2009 season with the Steelers as a desperately needed special teams player.
