Two great Steelers of the past share birthdays today. Franco Harris and Lynn Swann.
Harris, who turns 59 today, began his career as the Steelers number one pick and the 13th player selected overall in the 1972 NFL Draft. For 12 seasons, the 6-2, 230-pounder from Penn State was a big-yardage running back and a key force in the powerful Pittsburgh running game.
Swann, who turns 57 today, was the Steelers number one draft pick and 21st player selected overall in the 1974 NFL Draft. Swann played nine seasons with the Steelers and was a big force in the passing game that produced four Super Bowl championships.
