Ex-Steeler and current Giants wide receiver has been placed on reserve/injury list and suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. Burress accidentally shot himself in the right thigh over the weekend at a Manhattan nightclub. Burress posted a $100,000 bail on Monday, and has since been charged on two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, which could result in a prison sentence of 3 1/2 to 15 years, if convicted. This will also likely end the playing days of Burress in a Giants uniform as well. Burress signed a new contract at the beginning of the season, but the contract likely had loopholes should Burress return to his troublesome ways. Burress was drafted eighth overall in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Steelers. Burress left the Steelers after the 2005 season and signed a six-year, $25 million contract with the New York Giants.
