Cornerback Devin Smith cleared waivers Wednesday after being waived/injured Tuesday by the Pittsburgh Steelers and has reverted back to their Reserve/Injured list, according to the daily NFL transaction release.
Smith, who injured his hamstring prior to the third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, bounced on and off the Steelers practice squad last season. He also spent one week on the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins last season as well.
Smith was originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State but was waived by them early last August.
Unless Smith’s hamstring is serious, he will likely be waived healthy in the near future. The Steelers could decide to also waive him with an injury settlement.
