Nick Herbig Shares What It’s Like Being Teammates With Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers may not be playing at the same level he was when he won four NFL MVP awards with the Green Bay Packers. But he’s undoubtedly making quite an impact on the Steelers. They’re 3-1, and he’s been instrumental in keeping things even-keeled offensively.

And Rodgers isn’t just impacting the Steelers’ offense, either. Steelers OLB Nick Herbig joined The Arena on Sunday, and host Cody Kessler asked Herbig about sharing a locker room with Rodgers.

“He’s been awesome for our team,” Herbig said. “Just having that level of prestige in the locker room. His willingness to just share information on information with guys like me and rookies and guys, I mean anybody, literally anybody. He’s willing to share information with you to help you get better, help the team.”

That’s a far cry from what some expected from the enigmatic Aaron Rodgers. A lot of people had a picture in their heads that Rodgers was not interested in mentoring young players like his predecessor in Green Bay, QB Brett Favre. Couple that with his disastrous tenure with the New York Jets (and final run with the Packers before that), and there were plenty of people warned the Steelers to stay far away from Rodgers.

But you won’t hear anything like that coming out of Pittsburgh’s locker room. By all accounts, Aaron Rodgers has taken to the Steelers like a fish to water. And the same goes for his teammates to him. Nick Herbig isn’t the first player to praise Rodgers’ leadership and willingness to share. Heck, rookie QB Will Howard spoke about Rodgers’ willingness to help him.

Aaron Rodgers has certainly helped the Steelers on the field this season. He may not be lighting up the scoreboard and the stat sheet. But he’s keeping the offense even keeled and making the right plays to win games. Off the field, he’s doing everything right for this team. What more could you ask for?
