Depot After Dark

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for April 4.

RUDOLPH THROWING

Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a decision about his future. It seems like he’s going to sign with the Steelers, but nothing is done yet. That leaves Mason Rudolph as the Steelers’ starter. Mike Tomlin seems confident in him, as does Ben Roethlisberger. While Rudolph might end up as the team’s backup, he’s still training hard.

On his Instagram, Rudolph posted some photos showing him throwing a football. Although offseason activities haven’t begun yet, Rudolph isn’t letting that stop him from getting work in. Even if the Steelers sign Rodgers, Rudolph might still get on the field. Rodgers is 41 years old, so there’s no telling how his body will hold up.

STEELERS NEUROSURGEON AWARDED

Unfortunately, injuries are part of the game of football. Every player deals with bumps and bruises over the course of a season. That’s why team doctors are such an important part of each franchise. It looks like the Steelers are in safe hands with their neurosurgeon.

UPMC Physician Resources took to Twitter to announce that Steelers neurosurgeon Dave Okonkwo has received a prestigious award. For his research presented at the NFLPS Scientific meeting, Okonkwo was given the Arthur C. Rettig Award for Academic Excellence. It sounds like an incredible honor and recognition of Okonkwo’s work.

STEELHERS SOCIAL RETURNS

The Steelers have a massive fanbase including many different kinds of people. Last year, the Steelers made an effort to help connect many of their female fans. They held the inaugural SteelHERS Social, and this year, it seems that they’re bringing the event back.

The Steelers announced that the SteelHERS Social will return this year. It’s scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 10 at Acrisure Stadium. It will allow female Steelers fans to mingle and talk amongst themselves. The team has also announced that there will be an X’s and O’s session with current players and coaches, which is new. The event should be a blast for women who love the Steelers.
