The Pittsburgh Steelers traded their third-round pick to the Carolina Panthers. As part of the deal, the Steelers sent #80 to Carolina for #93, which is later in the third round, and #132 in the fourth round.
It’s a logical and expected move down for Pittsburgh. After holding at #32 to take Penn State CB Joey Porter Jr. and use its second pick of the second round on Wisconsin DL Keeanu Benton, the Steelers had little choice but to move down. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have made a selection until #241 overall, late in the seventh round.
As of this writing, the Steelers will pick at #93 later Friday night, #132 tomorrow along with their two seventh round picks, #241 and #251.
This is the second trade Pittsburgh’s made in the draft. They moved up from 17 to 14, sending 120 to the New England Patriots to select Georgia OT Broderick Jones.
