Contract Details For New Steelers G Nate Herbig

The Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to terms with free agent guard Nate Herbig on Tuesday and thanks to a report by Aaron Wilson we know now the details associated with that two-year deal.

Herbig’s two-year contract totals out at $8 million and within that he received a $2.92 million signing bonus. Herbig will have base salaries in 2023 and 2024 of $1.08 million and $4 million, restrictively. His cap charge in 2023 will be $2.54 million and his 2024 cap charge will be $5.46 million.

Cash flow-wise, it’s an even split for Herbig, who played last season with the New York Jets. He’s set to earn $4 million in 2023 and $4 million in 2024.

After top 51 displacement takes place, the Steelers will have used just $1.67 million in available salary cap space upon signing Herbig.

Herbig, a Stanford product, entered the NFL in 2019 with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford. He played his first three seasons with the Eagles but was waived by them last May after being initially restricted tendered last March.

The Jets then claimed Herbig off waivers from the Eagles and the guard went on to start and play in 11 games for them in 2022.
