Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for November by the NFL.
Watt, the Steelers first-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin, won the monthly award after recording six and a half sacks, 16 tackles, 11 solo stops, nine quarterback hits and forced two fumbles in the team’s last five games. He recorded at least one sack in each of those five contests.
Thanks to his solid month of play in November Watt is on pace to break the Steelers single season sack record of 16 that was set by outside linebacker James Harrison in 2008. He currently has 12.5 sacks for the season and leads the AFC in that stat and is fourth overall in the NFL.
Watt already has 32.5 sacks for his career to go along with 12 forced fumbles and two interceptions.
