The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Los Angeles Rams Sunday at Heinz Field and on Tuesday head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the overall health of his team ahead of that Week 10 game taking place.
Tomlin started his weekly injury updates by talking about guard Ramon Foster, who missed the team’s most recent game due to a concussion.
“Ramon Foster is scheduled to practice tomorrow,” Tomlin said about the Steelers starting left guard. “He’s still technically in the protocol, but he is scheduled to work.”
Foster updated his condition during an interview on 93.7 The Fan.
“I’m feeling fine. I got one more doctor’s visit with Dr. Micky Collins and I’ll have to pass the last protocol but as far as me and my symptoms, I feel fine,” Foster said. “So yeah, should be a go this weekend.”
Tomlin then proceeded to talk about several of the Steelers running backs who are currently dealing with injuries and that list of players includes James Conner (shoulder), Trey Edmunds (ribs), fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee) and Benny Snell Jr. (knee).
“James Conner, we’re going to let his practice participation this week be our guide in terms of his availability,” Tomlin said. “He’s probably going to be limited some in the early portions of the week. We’ll expect him to perk up as a week evolves and then make decisions accordingly. Trey Edmunds, with his rib injury, is going to be limited as well. Rosie Nix is still working off of his knee, he may be limited at the early portions of the week.
“I’m optimistic about all of those guys being available, but again, there’ll be no bold predictions. We’ll see where the week leads us. Benny Snell is still out recovering from his knee surgery.”
Conner and Snell both missed the Steelers last game and the latter will obviously miss the Sunday game against the Rams.
Tomlin also indicated that rookie inside linebacker Ulysees Gilbert III (back) will miss the game against the Rams.
“Uly Gilbert is anticipated being out with his back, which has been an issue or two here for the last several weeks,” Tomlin said.
Gilbert did dress and play this past weekend but only on special teams.
The Steelers first injury report of Week 10 will be released on Wednesday after the team completes their practice.
