The Pittsburgh Steelers have now released what will likely be their final injury report of Week 10 ahead of their Sunday home game against the Los Angeles Rams and the Friday offering shows that four players have been ruled out for that contest with one other being questionable.
Officially listed as out for the Sunday game against the Rams after failing to practice earlier in the day were running back James Conner (shoulder), guard Ramon Foster (concussion), fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee), and running back Benny Snell (knee). This will mark the second consecutive game that Conner, Foster and Snell will miss. Nix missed five games earlier in the season with his knee injury.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin talked about the situation at the running back position after Friday’s practice was over with.
“It is what it is,” Tomlin said. “We’ll have a running back on the field and expect those guys to deliver for us. We’ve been challenged in that way this year and it seems like every turn, guys have had an opportunity to stand and deliver. Benny Snell had a big half or so a couple of weeks back in LA. Edmunds had an opportunity to be a major contributor last week. We’ll see what this week holds. We don’t fear it, we fully understand the position that we’re in, but we fully expect whoever’s to do it, to do a credible job.”
With Conner and Snell sidelined again, running back Jaylen Samuels will make his second consecutive start. With Foster out, we’ll have to wait and see if B.J. Finney winds up starting again in his place at left guard because there have been rumblings that Matt Feiler might move over from right tackle to play that position.
Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (foot) was added to the team’s injury report on Friday as questionable for Sunday after being limited in practice earlier in the day. Hopefully he’ll be able to play Sunday against the Rams. If there’s fear that Smith-Schuster might miss the game, the Steelers would likely sign wide receiver Tevin Jones off the practice squad on Saturday.
Practicing fully on Friday and ending the week without game status designations were defensive end Tyson Alualu (knee), running back Trey Edmunds (ribs), wide receiver Ryan Switzer (back), inside linebacker Mark Barron (not injury related), tight end Vance McDonald (not injury related), and center Maurkice Pouncey (not injury related).
