The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded QB Josh Dobbs to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 5th round pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Jacksonville is searching for a QB after losing Nick Foles to a shoulder injury in the Week One opener.
Dobbs became the #3 QB in Pittsburgh after losing out to Mason Rudolph this preseason. Dobbs was the 135th overall pick in the 2017 draft. He appeared in five games for the Steelers, going 6/12 for 43 yards and an interception. Most of his work came in an ugly loss to the Oakland Raiders last year.
The Steelers figure to add a #3 QB back to its roster. Devlin Hodges starred in camp and makes as much sense as anyone. It’s possible he gets added to the practice squad and not the 53, meaning the team would carry only two QBs for maybe the first time in team history. But no corresponding move has been announced yet.
Developing story.
