Steelers Depot Friday Night Five Questions

Happy Friday to yinz.

The Pittsburgh Steelers 2019 preseason gets underway later tonight with the team hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Heinz Field. It goes without sating that the crew here at Steelers Depot has a very busy night and early morning ahead of us. We can’t wait to cover this first preseason game for yinz.

To help make these last few hours pass quickly, I have five easy Friday night questions for yinz to answer and hope to get several replies before the game gets underway.

Have a great night and weekend and Go Steelers!

1 – Will the Steelers longest offensive play Friday night be longer than 45 yards?

2 – Which quarterback will complete the longest pass Friday night? (air yards)

3 – Fill in the blank: ______________ will score the Steelers first touchdown Friday night against the Buccaneers.

4 – True or false: The Steelers defense will have at least four sacks Friday night against the Buccaneers.

5 – Name one offensive and one defensive player you really are excited about seeing play Friday night.

Recap of 2019 Friday Night Lights Practice Friday Night Questions

Question 1: The Steelers should induct Troy Polamalu into the team’s Hall of Honor even if he is not interested in taking part in the ceremonies according to 80.1% of Steelers Depot Friday Night Questions respondents. The minority view was that there is no sense in honoring him until Troy and the organization reach some type of rapprochement.

Question 2: Previously, 81% of Steelers Depot Friday Night respondents believed Kevin Colbert will be with the organization past the 2020 NFL draft. This past week, 96% believe Colbert will remain with the organization through at least the 2020 season. It appears that we are even more bullish on Colbert remaining for at least another two seasons.

Question 3: James Washington was named by 1/3 of respondents to lead the Steelers offense in preseason receiving yards. The two Diontae’s were named more often than Washington but Spencer had 25% of the vote while Johnson took 16.7%. News of Johnson’s injury was already out so may have impacted opinions. Respondents mentioned five other receivers including JuJu Smith-Schuster, Ryan “Alfalfa” Switzer, Donte Moncrief & Eli Rogers. Let’s see how they do during the 4 preseason games.

Question 4: Respondents named only five defenders to lead the Steelers defense in interceptions during the preseason. But Kameron Kelly was named by 52% of respondents. Artie Burns & Cameron Sutton tied for second with 20%. Brian Allen and Mark Barron were the also-rans.

Question 5: 4th string quarterback Devlin Hodges will play more than 30% of offensive snaps in the preseason according to 56% of respondents. Tonight, will be a big test: “We’d like to get him some play,” Tomlin said of Hodges. “We’ll see how the flow of the game goes. We’re working with the intentions of doing that, but sometimes things unfold a little bit differently once you get inside a stadium. So those are the intentions. Man, he’s been deserving of the opportunity. I’m sure he’ll get it here this week or the next.”

For those interested. Once the regular starts, Steelers Depot will kickoff the Friday Night 5 Questions contest administered by David Orochena.

Here is how it will work:

Points for correct answers will be tracked all the way through the questions posed the Friday before the Super Bowl and a winner declared. In some cases, Steelers Depot will assign more points for a given question or add bonus questions with points. A point will also be awarded every week that a respondent answers the questions – a participation point. The contest will begin with the September 6, 2019 Friday Night 5 Questions.

The questions that are scored and the point totals for each question are solely the discretion of Steelers Depot. Only one handle will accumulate points. Let’s keep it fun but we’ll offer a cash prize for the top three place finishers, but you must have a PayPal account. 1st: $100; 2nd $75; 3rd $25.
