Every Sunday during the offseason I plan on recapping for you seven items related to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the NFL that may have fallen through the cracks the past week that should be worth your time to read or watch. This weekly feature will be entitled “Steelers’ Seven Shots.”’
Shot #1 – Former Steelers returner Stefan Logan turns 37 today and he’s still playing football in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes. Logan in case you forgot, made the Steelers 53-man roster in 2009 after being signed that February to a Reserve/Futures contract. Logan was seemingly right on the roster bubble entering the Steelers final 2009 preseason game against the Carolina Panthers and he secured his place on the 53 with this punt return below for a touchdown in that contest. For that preseason, Logan returned 9 punts for 191 yards and a touchdown to go along with 5 kickoff returns for 185 yards.
Shot #2 – Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will conduct his annual kids’s football camp on June 16th, 2019 at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. Camp details, along with how to sign up for the event, can be found at BenRoethlisbergerCamp.com.
Shot #3 – Steelers backup quarterback Joshua Dobbs has also been busy this offseason but in other ways. A few months ago he got the opportunity to fly in one of the U.S Air Force Thunderbird’s F-16s and that event has since been made into a full-length video for SI.tv. If that’s not enough, Dobbs, who was back in Knoxville the last several days for his own annual football camp, got the chance to do the local weather on WATE-TV.
Shot #4 – Actor Joe Manganiello is a huge fan of the Steelers and his new film “Bottom of the 9th” will debut in theaters July 19th. The movie features Manganiello in the lead role and his real life wife Sofía Vergara, playing his wife. Below is the first trailer of the film that has been released and it would be nice to see Steeler Nation support Manganiello by going to see his new film in the theaters.
Shot #5 – If you want a quick preview of some high profile small school college players to keep a close eye during the upcoming football season, Gil Brandt of NFL.com released a list of 15 of them on Twitter a few days ago.

Shot #6 – Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh recently switched from Heinz ketchup to Hunt’s ketchup and that of course is an unthinkable act in Yinzerland. A petition was instantly created to get the amusement park to switch back to the hometown Heinz brand. On Saturday, Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith Schuster got involved as he was present at the park passing out Heinz ketchup to guests. KDKA has a few more of the details related to this story.
Shot #7 – Last season the Steelers defense unfortunately only registered 8 total interceptions despite having four through the team’s first three regular season games. Do yinz remember all 8 of those interceptions? If not, I have them in order for yinz to review below.
