Steelers Waive RB Dreamius Smith

The Pittsburgh Steelers made one roster move on Friday as running back Dreamius Smith was waived, according to the team.

Smith originally joined the Steelers as a practice squad player last season. The 2015 undrafted free agent entered the NFL with the San Diego Chargers. After failing to make their 53-man roster out of training camp, he landed on the Chargers practice squad and late in the season was eventually promoted to their 53.man roster.

Smith played his college football at West Virginia and averaged well over five yards a carry and scored five touchdowns during his 2014 senior year.

Smith was waived to make room for running back James Conner on the 90-man roster. Conner, the Steelers second of two third-round draft picks this year, signed his rookie contract on Thursday.
