The Pittsburgh Steelers have now signed one of their eight 2017 draft picks as the team reported Monday afternoon that fifth-round cornerback Brian Allen is now under contract.
The four-year contract that Allen signed should total out at around $2,630,188 according to Over the Cap and include a signing bonus of roughly $230,188. The specific numbers related to Allen’s four-year deal will be known shortly.
The Steelers picked Allen with the 173rd overall selection in the draft. The 6031, 215-pound cornerback registered five interceptions 14 total defensed passes and 62 total tackles during his college career at Utah.
Allen initially played wide receiver at Utah but was moved to the defensive side of the football in 2014. He started 12 games over the course of his final two seasons.
At this year’s scouting combine, Allen ran his 40-yard-dash in 4.43-seconds. At his pro day he improved his vertical (38-inches) and broad jump (10’07”) distances in addition to his short shuttle time (4.18-seconds).
