Every Sunday during the offseason I plan on recapping for you seven items related to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the NFL that may have fallen through the cracks the past week that should be worth your time to read. This weekly feature will be entitled “Steelers’ Seven Shots.”
Shot #1 – Since the combine got underway we have been tracking all the players who have reportedly met with the Steelers.
Shot #2 – Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has his annual story on several of the top-rated players in this year’s draft complete with quotes from NFL personnel. I always look forward to this during this time of the year.
Shot #3 – The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has several combine interviews up on their Youtube channel that are worth watching.
Shot #4 – Are you a fan of Temple Edge/LB Haason Reddick? If so, you will love his Sunday broad jump. Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier posted a 10’10” broad jump at the combine several years ago. Reddick also had a 36.5-inch vertical on Sunday. Shazier, on the other hand, jumped 42-inches.
Shot #5 – Some words of wisdom from Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips when it comes to combine numbers.
Shot #6 – Teresa Varley of steelers.com has a look back at former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward and his combine experience when he found out he didn’t have an ACL in his left knee.
Shot #7 – After the combine ends, the start of the free agent signing period will get underway on March 9 with the legal tampering period starting on March 7. Ahead of that happening, NFL.com has released their top 101 free agents for 2017 and the list includes three players from the Steelers.
