The Pittsburgh Steelers will start bringing in players for pre-draft visits very soon and it sounds like UCLA edge-rusher Takkarist McKinley might ultimately be one of them.
According to Courtney Fallon of the NFL Network, McKinley said Tuesday at the UCLA pro day that the Steelers are one of several teams he’s scheduled to meet with ahead of the 2017 NFL Draft.
McKinley, who did not participate in his pro day as he’s still recovering from a March 6 shoulder surgery, reportedly said Tuesday that he is on track to return to the field in about four months, according to Matt Cummings of dailybruin.com.
McKinley, who underwent the surgery the day after the NFL Combine, measured in while in Indianapolis at 6020, 250-pounds. He did all the drills at the combine which included him running the 40-yard-dash in 4.59 seconds and doing 24 reps on the bench.
In the 33 games that McKinley played in at UCLA and Contra Costa College he registered 102 total tackles, 17 sacks, and 10 pass breakups. 10 of his sacks came last season. He’s expected to be selected somewhere in the first two rounds of the draft.
