Pittsburgh Steelers free agent linebacker Lawrence Timmons is visiting with the Miami Dolphins on Friday and if you believe one of the team’s longtime beat writers, they are really interested in signing him.
According to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins are “pulling out all the stops for Timmons” as they don’t want him to get away the same way former Steelers safety Ryan Clark did several years ago.
In case you forgot, Clark, who like Timmons is this year was an unrestricted free agent in 2010, visited with the Dolphins early on in free agency that year before deciding to re-sign with the Steelers.
Kelly claims that Timmons is a priority target for the Dolphins this year.
While the Steelers might indeed want to re-sign Timmons, the veteran linebacker could ultimately receive an offer from the Dolphins that would be hard for him to turn down. Timmons has indicated several times during the last year that he hopes he can finish his career with the Steelers.
