You can officially forget about the Pittsburgh Steelers signing Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick.
As soon as the 2017 NFL league started Thursday evening, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Twitter that the Bengals are re-signing their former first-round draft pick.
“They fought for him and get it done,” Rapoport reports.
Kirkpatrick confirmed on Twitter that he has signed a five-year contract with the Bengals.
Over the course of the last several days the Steelers were reported as being a team interested in signing Kirkpatrick and Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network even went as far as to say they were close to signing him.
It’s hard to believe that the Steelers really had a high level of interest in Kirkpatrick considering his perceived market value.
