Some Wednesday housekeeping for you, Steelers’ Nation. Vince Williams underwent shoulder surgery today as he told the Twitter universe moments ago.

The surgery is no surprise. Williams was listed on the injury report for the past several weeks with a shoulder injury. Despite missing large chunks of practice, he never missed a game and continued to be a steady presence on special teams, serving as one of the Steelers’ core players and top two tone setters.
Williams had previously said the surgery will have him in a sling for ten weeks. Even if he is limited throughout the spring, he’s in no danger of missing training camp.
After receiving a long-term deal before the start of this season, he started four games and finished the year with 40 total tackles and two sacks. If Lawrence Timmons is allowed to hit free agency, Williams will become the full-time starter next to Ryan Shazier in 2017.
