Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took an unnecessary hit late in Sunday’s win over the Miami Dolphins and while head coach Mike Tomlin didn’t mention him during his post-game injury run-down, the quarterback was wearing a boot on his right foot when he talked to the media.
Roethlisberger said he injured his ankle late in the game when Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh landed on him. He did say he will play next weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs.
“The very last play, not the kneel-down, but the last play. I think Suh landed on me, or whatever, so dont know anything yet but we’ll find out soon, hopefully,” Roethlisberger said when asked when he injured his ankle.
So, is Roethlisberger worried about his newest injury?
“You’re always worried about being hurt, but I’ll be out there next week,” Roethlisberger said.
Roethlisberger was then asked if he was surprised he was in the game so late with the Steelers leading comfortably.
“No, I don’t know if they had a conversation on the sideline about me staying in or not, but I love being out there with the guys,” the Steelers quarterback said.
Roethlisberger did say his shoulder that he appeared to hurt late in the game is “Ok.” The Steelers quarterback was hit right after he threw his second interception of the game in the fourth quarter. He got up, appearing to favor his right shoulder.
Roethlisberger was later asked if he needed an MRI.
“I’ll let you talk to coach about that,” he said.
