The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at Heinz Field in the Wild Card round of the playoffs and as you would probably expect, they are favored to win that game.
According to VegasInsider.com, the Steelers opened as 10-point home favorites over the Dolphins. It’s worth noting, however, that Pinnacle Sports had the Steelers initially installed as 7.5-point favorites Sunday night, according to R.J. Bell of pregame.com on Twitter.
By the sound of things, the Steelers will enter the playoffs as a relatively healthy team as defensive end Stephon Tuitt should be able to return from the knee sprain that has kept him out of action since Week 15. Additionally, Steelers tight end Ladarius Green will also hopefully be able to return to action against the Dolphins after sitting out the last two games with a concussion.
As for the Dolphins, they enter the playoffs with an injured starting quarterback as Ryan Tannehill is still attempting to overcome a knee injury that has had him sidelined for several weeks. Tannehill was 24 of 32 passing for 252 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 6 home win over the Steelers.
Additionally, the Dolphins will play the Steelers on Sunday without their two starting safeties as both have been lost for the remainder of the season due to injuries.
The early Pittsburgh weather forecast for Sunday calls for a mix of clouds and sun in the morning followed by cloudy skies during the afternoon. A high of 26 is expected with winds out of the WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will preview the upcoming game against the Dolphins during his weekly Tuesday press conference. At that time, he’s also expected to provide a full update on the health of his team.
