The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Miami Dolphins next weekend in one of the two AFC Wild Card games and while a few of the their own defensive linemen were banged-up in the team’s Sunday win over the Cleveland Browns, it appears as though Miami running back Jay Ajayi suffered an unspecified injury in his team’s Sunday loss to the New England Patriots.
According to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, Ajayi needed x-rays immediately following the loss to the Patriots. While there have been no reports as to what kind of injury that Ajayi suffered, he reportedly said, “I’m good” after the game was over.
Ajayi, who rushed for 59 yards on 16 carries in Sunday’s loss to the Patriots, shredded the Steelers defense back in Week 6 and he finished that game with 204 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.
Ajayi would go on to rush for more than 200 yards twice in a single game after accomplishing that feat against the Steelers. We’ll have to wait and see just how “fine” Ajayi is next week and whether or not the Boise State product is able to practice fully starting on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The Dolphins could be without the services of starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill against the Steelers as he’s still recovering from a knee injury that suffered a few weeks ago. Veteran backup quarterback Matt Moore has been starting in Tannehill’s place and he threw for 205 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in Miami’s Sunday’s loss to the Patriots.
