As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers will not face Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill in Sunday’s AFC Wild Card game at Heinz Field.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Tannehill will not play Sunday as he’s yet to overcome the Grade II MCL sprain that he suffered several weeks ago.
With Tannehill sidelined Sunday, veteran backup quarterback Matt Moore will start in his place and he’ll be backed up by T.J. Yates.
Since taking over for Tannehill late in the Dolphins Week 14 game, Moore has completed 55 of his 87 total pass attempts for 721 yards with 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He’s also been sacked once.
Tannehill suffered his knee injury late in the Dolphins win over the Arizona Cardinals.
In the Dolphins Week 6 win over the Steelers, Tannehill completed 24 of his 32 total pass attempts for 252 yards. He did not throw a touchdown or an interception in that game.
