The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cincinnati Bengals 24-20 on the road Sunday and a few things stick out when you look at the initial snap counts from the game. Here is a recap.
Offensively for the Steelers, tight end Ladarius Green played 43 of 75 possible snaps prior to leaving late with a concussion. Tight end Xavier Grimble played 8 snaps and we’ll have to see if those came after Green exited.
Wide receiver Sammie Coates played a lot of snaps against the Bengals as he was on the field for 30 plays in total in addition to 17 on special teams. It’s good to see his snap counts going up.
Defensively, the Steelers outside linebacker rotation consisted of Bud Dupree and James Harrison playing all 58 snaps.
The Steelers used a lot of sub package Sunday in Cincinnati as cornerback William Gay was on the field for 46 of 58 snaps.
While linebacker Vince Williams and safety Robert Golden both played 4 snaps each, I believe those came down near the Steelers goal-line in the first half.
After defensive end Stephon Tuitt left the game after 3 snaps, L.T. Walton went on to play 36 snaps. Daniel McCullers still only managed 12 snaps despite Tuitt and Ricardo Mathews leaving with injuries.
