Steelers Injury Report: Gilbert, D-Will Ruled Out

The Pittsburgh Steelers‘ final injury report has been released and there are several players who have been ruled out.

They are:

Marcus Gilbert (ankle)
Cameron Heyward (hamstring)
Ben Roethlisberger (knee)
Shamarko Thomas (groin)
Cody Wallace (knee)
Markus Wheaton (shoulder)
DeAngelo Williams (knee)

The report was first sent out by Steelers.com’s Missi Matthews.  Those will be your seven inactive players this week.

Heyward, Roethlisberger, and Wallace were ruled out by Mike Tomlin on Tuesday. Gilbert continues his extended absence while Thomas and Wheaton have missed the last two games. Williams is a new name to the list but Tomlin said he was dealing with inflammation and it’s obviously severe enough to rule him out this week.

Fitzgerald Toussaint appears to be this week’s backup. It’s unclear if the Steelers will promote Daryl Richardson or Karlos Williams from the practice squad.

Missi Matthews also reported Stephon Tuitt was limited today due to an ankle injury. Robert Golden (foot), Mike Mitchell (knee), and Ryan Shazier (knee) practiced in full. All three will play Sunday with Shazier’s return a welcomed – and needed – addition against the New England Patriots’ dual threat top two tight ends.
