As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers have now placed running back Le’Veon Bell back on their 53-man roster and as a result of that move the team waived running back Daryl Richardson in order to make room for him.
The Steelers were given a roster exemption for Bell earlier this week now that he’s served his three-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy and that was set to expire at 4 p.m. EST Thursday.
Richardson had been with the Steelers since he signed a Reserve/Futures contract with them this past January. While Richardson did dress and play in each of the Steelers first three regular season games, he only registered 2 carries for 7 yards in the 5 total offensive snaps that he played.
It will now be interesting to see if Richardson makes it back to the team’s practice squad after being waived on Thursday.
