Steelers Waive RB Brandon Johnson From IR On Friday

While we wait for the Pittsburgh Steelers to kick-off their preseason opener against the Detroit Lions at Heinz Field, I’ll take this time to pass along a transaction that was made by the team on Friday.

According to the daily NFL transaction report, the Steelers have waived running back Brandon Johnson from their Reserve/Injured list.

Johnson, who played his college football at Penn State, was signed originally by the Steelers on June 24. He was waived injured on August 2 and reverted to the team’s Reserve/Injured list after clearing waivers.

It doesn’t appear as though Johnson was waived with any kind of injury settlement so he must have been healthy enough to pass his exit physical.

With Johnson being waived on Friday, the Steelers are now left with linebacker Kevin Anderson, tight end Mandel Dixon, wide receiver Shakim Phillips and wide receiver Canaan Severin on their Reserve/Injured list.
