Steelers To Sit Injured Players Jones, Dupree, Burns, Chickillo And Gilbert Against Eagles

The Pittsburgh Steelers will kickoff their second preseason game of 2016 against the Philadelphia Eagles in about 30 minutes from now and we’re already getting a good idea as to which players will sit out the contest because of minor injuries.

According to Missi Matthews of steelers.com, linebacker Jarvis Jones, linebacker Bud Dupree, cornerback Artie Burns, and linebacker Anthony Chickillo are not dressed for warm-ups prior to the game and thus are not expected to play Thursday night. This will make the second preseason game that Jones, Dupree and Burns have missed and the first one that Chickillo has failed to suit up for. The Miami product injured an ankle last week in the preseason opener.

Tackle Marcus Gilbert is also reportedly not dressed for the Thursday night game as he is apparently still dealing with a shoulder injury. With Gilbert sidelined, expect Ryan Harris to get the start against the Eagles at right tackle. Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski will also not play Thursday night after suffering a hamstring injury in the game last Friday night.

Earlier in the week, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, running back Le’Veon Bell, running back DeAngelo Williams, and wide receiver Antonio Brown would all be held out of Thursday night’s game.
