The Pittsburgh Steelers have restructured another contract as evidenced by their NFLPA cap number dropping $2,243,334 Friday morning. Additionally, the contract of Vince Williams has now been filed.
Safety Mike Mitchell had his contract reworked once again as his 2016 base salary has been lowered to $885,000. That $4,115,000 reduction was paid to him as a signing bonus and his 2016 cap charge decreased by $2,743,333.34 as result.
Earlier in the week the Steelers restructured the contract of tackle Marcus Gilbert and that transaction resulted in a cap savings in 2016 of $2,392,500. With Mitchell’s contract now redone, it means the team has cleared $5,135,833.34 in salary cap space this week via restructures.
