The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced they have placed tight end Ladarius Green on Reserve/PUP. This will mean he will miss the first at minimum the first six weeks of the regular season.
Green has continued to rehab from offseason ankle surgery. There have been multiple reports that more recently, he has been suffering from headaches related to two concussions suffered last season with the San Diego Chargers. The team has always danced around those comments but considering the decision today, it’s fair to say the headaches were the driving force behind placing him on PUP considering there doesn’t appear to be any major setbacks in his ankle rehab.
Jesse James will serve as the starting tight end until – if – Green returns.
Green signed a four year, $20 million deal in the offseason. $4.75 million came in the form of a signing bonus.
