Following his release on Thursday by the Pittsburgh Steelers, tight end Matt Spaeth released a short statement thanking both the organization and the fans for all of their support over the years.
While Spaeth’s career in Pittsburgh didn’t include him making very many catches, he played his role as an extra blocking tight end very well. If this is indeed the end of his career, he certainly should be appreciated for the effort that he gave during his nine seasons.
Spaeth played in 123 of a possible 144 regular season games after being drafted by the Steelers in the third-round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Minnesota. He was a class individual both on and off the field.
