I think I’ve run out of ways to say it so I’ll just say it as plainly as possible: Mike Tomlin better see all 90 of his players in peak physical conditioning.
So that’s what four key Pittsburgh Steelers are doing for the next month. Lawrence Timmons, Mike Mitchell, Le’Veon Bell, and Marcus Gilbert are packing up to head down to South Beach for the next month. They’ll train with the well-known Pete Bommarito at his facility, according to this Instagram post on Bommarito’s account.
Bell and Gilbert are no strangers to working down there and it’s believed Bell was there during a portion of OTAs as he continues to rehab from last year’s torn MCL. Mitchell certainly seems like a “team guy” during the offseason. He spent the winter in Arizona with James Harrison, Stephon Tuitt, and Ryan Shazier, and will now link up with these three before camp.
Timmons is in incredible shape and his durability is a testament to the work ethic he possesses. The mix of offense/defense, younger/older is also nice to see. It sounds corny but there’s definitely an element of team unity there.
We already know Antonio Brown is in Miami to work with “Bo The Trainer” and a couple of other NFL players.
Not that there should be any surprise over it but you can guarantee after a month there, these four guys will all be in tremendous shape when they report for Latrobe in late July.
