Even though he never missed a game last season, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Mike Mitchell was hampered most of the year with a shoulder injury that ultimately needed surgery to repair this past offseason.
On Thursday, Mitchell posted a video update on Instagram and it includes him being able to lift weights again now that he’s four months removed from his shoulder surgery.
Mitchell, who recorded a career-high 80 tackles last season in addition to registering 3 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles, will turn 29 years of age in a few more weeks. He is entering the third-year of the five-year, $25 million contract that signed as an unrestricted free agent in 2014.
The Steelers annual OTA practices will get underway on Monday in Pittsburgh and being as those practices aren’t allowed to include tackling, there’s no reason to think that Mitchell won’t be able to participate in some capacity next week. additionally, one would think he should be able to participate fully in training camp once it gets underway in Latrobe in late July.
