By the time the Pittsburgh Steelers play the Detroit Lions in the team’s first preseason game this year, the two teams will have already had an up-close look at one another.
According to a Tuesday morning announcement, the Steelers will host the Lions for joint practices at Saint Vincent College just days before the two team’s preseason matchup at Heinz Field on August 12. The joint practices will reportedly take place on August 9 and 10.
The Steelers last held joint preseason practices in 2014 when they hosted the Buffalo Bills before the two teams met during the second week of the preseason. The Bills were initially set to host the Steelers for joint practices last year but those plans ultimately fell through because of the Bills having a coaching change after the 2014 season.
The Steelers will open training camp this year at Saint Vincent College on July 28.
