The Pittsburgh Steelers are actively lining up players for pre-draft visits and we now know that LSU tackle Jerald Hawkins is scheduled to come to town ahead of the 2016 NFL Draft.
According to NFL Draft Diamonds, Hawkins will meet with the Steelers on March 31st through April 1st.
Hawkins, who measured in at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine at 6055, 305-pounds, reportedly ran the 40-yard dash in 5.23 seconds while in Indianapolis. He did 23 reps on the bench and had a vertical jump of 23.5-inches.
Hawkins, an underclassman in this year’s draft class, played in and started 37 games during his career at LSU with 25 starts coming at right tackle and 12 more at left tackle. He made the switch from right tackle to left tackle last season. He reportedly played a total of 754 offensive snaps in 2015 and recorded 38 knockdown blocks, according to his bio.
The Steelers interest in Hawkins is quite interesting being as they signed former Denver Broncos tackle Ryan Harris to a two-year contract on Tuesday.
Last week, Clemson safety Jayron Kearse told the media that he also has a pre-draft visit scheduled with the Steelers.
